GBrowse Annotation File Management Proposal
Lincoln and I talked about a possible GBrowse enhancement this morning.
This page is to discuss the design and progress of that potential
enhancement. –Jhannah 10:57, 1 June 2007

The Idea
Add usernames, passwords, and a homepage feature for annotation file
management. What files I uploaded, when, how big they are, a short text
description, let me delete them, etc.
The current annotation upload feature is cookie based. There’s currently
no way (via the browser) to manage the annotation files I uploaded after
the fact.
Future: Control the private vs. public status of each file I uploaded?
Or set up a password I can give only to trusted people? Or list their
usernames? -ponder- DAS integration? -ponder-

- Just returned from the GMOD meeting @ CSHL. I don’t think I’m going
to get around to this project any time soon. If anyone else picks it
up be aware that GBrowse 3.0 (the AJAX / Google Maps style version)
is a complete re-write. Should this feature be written into that
version as well whenever it comes out?

- I’m
in Australia for 3 weeks.
When I return I’ll try to noodle through a design and post it
here. –Jhannah 10:57, 1 June 2007

- I opened ticket # 5 (-laugh-) for this project in our
ultra-brand-new RT database, which will
drive my workload upon my return.
