MolGenIS
- Mature release
- Active development
- Active support
MOLGENIS is a platform for rapid prototyping of biosoftware. From easy to create models, MOLGENIS automatically generates flexible web platforms at the push of a button. Using this flexible mechanism MOLGENIS systems can accommodate all possible genomic, molecular and phenotypic experiments. Each generated MOLGENIS provides biologist friendly user interfaces, semantic interfaces to RDF, SPARQL and ontologies, processing interfaces to R and SOAP/REST web services, a text-file exchange format and full documentation. There is a growing array of MOLGENIS generated instances, building on open standards, including XGAP - eXtensible Genotype And Phenotype database, animaldb, MAGE-TAB db, Pheno-OM and so on. And the fact that each is generated in a standard way greatly helps to make sure software still works together.
Requirements
MOLGENIS is implemented using Java, Freemarker and R. Each MOLGENIS instance will happily run on Windows, Linux and Mac boxes with Tomcat or Glassfish as web server and MySQL or PostgreSQL as database server. Developers wanting to use the generator to create their own MOLGENIS version can do so quickly using Eclipse.
