{{#icon: 2012GMODSummerSchoolLogo.png|2012 GMOD Summer School August 25-29, 2012|600|gmod:2012 GMOD Summer School}}
Welcome to the 2012 GMOD Summer School. This course will introduce participants to many key GMOD components that will help you better manage, visualize, annotate, and exploit your biological data.
Schedule
The course runs from Saturday August 25th to Wednesday August 29th, 2012. It runs all day and into the night for the first four days, and until 6:30pm on the final day, with the course dinner on Wednesday evening rounding things off in style. The course is broken up into sessions, each covering a different topic. On the first four days we'll have optional evening sessions where participants can ask that day's instructors questions and apply the tools to their own data.
See the Schedule for full details.
Participants
The course has participants from a wide variety of research areas, backgrounds, and geographical locations. A large part of the GMOD course experience is getting to know your fellow participants, learning from each other, and building your personal network.
Mailing List
The course has an e-mail list. Any participant can post to it. Please do.
Logistics
As with any meeting, there are lots of logistics. See the Logistics for all things logistical.
Sponsors
This course has several sources of funding.
The National Evolutionary Synthesis Center (NESCent) is hosting this course and all other GMOD Americas 2011 events. Travel scholarships were entirely funded by NESCent, as part of its Education and Outreach effort. NESCent's Education and Outreach Group is committed to sharing the exciting evolutionary biology research occurring at NESCent and elsewhere. In addition, NESCent is interested in outreach to groups who are underrepresented in evolutionary biology and improving evolution education, and offers resources for scientists, educators, and the general public that meet these goals.
