Summary

I have studied bioinformatics since 2006, when I became a bioinformatics major in the undergrad program at Brigham Young University (BYU). I worked briefly in the development of phylogenetics tools while I was in between undergrad and grad school, and I have been involved with MAKER since 2011. Since joining the Yandell group at the University of Utah, I have assisted in the annotation of several genomes including the alfalfa-leafcutting bee Megachile rotundata, the ant Cardiocondyla obscurior and the pine rust fungus Cronartium quercuum. I am interested in the use of next-generation sequence data (especially RNA-seq data) to improve genome annotation, the genomics of host-parasite evolution, and personal genomics.
