__NOTITLE__

The Satellite Meetings at the January 2010 GMOD Meeting proved so popular that we are holding them again, this time the day after the meeting, and immediately before Genome Informatics 2010.

If you have a topic that you want to cover in a Satellite Meeting, please

  1. Add the topic to the list below. Be sure to include your contact information.
  2. Send an email about the satellite to the appropriate GMOD Mailing Lists.

All satellite meetings will conclude in time for participatns to make it to the start of Genome Informatics on Wednesday night.

GMOD staff will promote the satellite meetings in any announcements that go out.

Topic Organizer(s) Time Comments
Post Reference Genome Tools 1 Dave Clements To be determined How are we going to visualize and exploit (or even cope with) the world three years from now, when small labs may be able to fully sequence 500 individuals or species (or more) in a month? How can we visualize and link together 500, 1000, or 10,000 genomes? Many existing tools assume a reference genome. Will a reference make sense in the future, or will it hold us back?
Add Your Idea ↑ Add your name ↑ Add your powerful argument why people should spend time at this satellite. ↑

If you are interested in participating in any of these satellites, please

  1. check the Satellite Meetings box on the GMOD Europe 2010 registration form, and
  2. notify the organizer that you are interested in participating.

1 This idea is one of many that were considered, but not emphasized, for the GMOD Evo Hackathon, also being held this fall. Many of these ideas would also make good satellites. If one interests you, please volunteer to lead it.
